Black and White lists

Exim

Configuration file:

  • /etc/exim4/whitelist - White list (path exim-whitelist in the ISPmanager 5 configuration file)
  • /etc/exim4/blacklist - Black list (path exim-blacklist in the ISPmanager 5 configuration file)


Format:

  1. 127.0.0.1 - IP-address of the source server
  2. mail@domain.name - mailbox
  3. *@domain.name - all the mailboxes associated with this domain

Lists are processed as follows:

  1. White list
  2. Black list
  This procedure is specified in the exim.conf configuration file 

Postfix/Sendmail

Configuration files:

  • /etc/mail/accessdb - contains records for both lists. See below

Record format:

SOURCE ACTION

where:

  • SOURCE - email sender
  • ACTION - action that should be performed against emails sent from SOURCE

Sender:

  • mail@domain.name - mailbox
  • domain.name - domain name
  • 192.168.212.1 - IP address (it can be provided as 12.2.3, which equals 12.2.3.0/24)

Action:

  • REJECT - do not receive emails
  • OK - receive emails
  The lists processing procedure is based on rules for the corresponding SOURCE.
