This article walks you through the steps you need to perform to switch between ISPmanager major versions, and upgrade ISPmanager Lite to Business.

Major version upgrade

ISPmanager 4 Lite -> ISPmanager 5 Lite

There are two ways to switch from ISPmanager 4 Lite to ISPmanager 5 Lite:

  • Using migration
  • Using the user import function

Migration means that ISPmanager 4 Lite installed on your server can be converted to ISPmanager 5 Lite running on the same server.

For more detailed information please refer to the Migration from ISPmanager 4 Lite to ISPmanager 5 Lite article.

User import requires "fresh" installation of ISPmanager 5 Lite on a new server. Then you need to import users using the User import function.

Log in to ISPmanager 5 --> go to the User import module and complete the following steps:

Please note: the user import function can be used for importing users both from a remote server and local backup. If you are using the second variant, you are supposed to have a backup copy made in ISPmanager 4 and located on the target server.

ISPmanager 4 Pro -> ISPmanager 5 Lite and Business

You cannot upgrade from ISPmanger 4 Pro to ISPmanager 5 Lite or ISPmanager 5 Business on the same server.

We strongly recommend a clean install of installation of ISPmanager 5 Lite. Then you need to import users using the User import function.

Upgrading from ISPmanager 5 Lite to ISPmanager 5 Business

Upgrade from ISPmanger 5 Lite to ISPmanager 5 Business requires a new server, because these products have different architecture, and software applications.

We strongly recommend a clean install of installation of ISPmanager Business on a new server. Then you can import user data.
