Migration and quotas in VMmanager OVZ

This article describes the error that occurs when migrating containers with the simfs file system and active disk quota of the second level (VMmanager OVZ 5.3.0 and later), if Debian is installed on the cluster node. Quota of the second level enables to set limits for users and groups inside containers.

When the error occurs, the following notification is registered in VMmanager OVZ: "While migrating the '...' container on the '...' cluster node the following error occurred. Error: 'EXIT_QUOTA: Quota operation error.'"

The only solution is to disable quota for container. Complete the following steps:

  • execute the command "vzctl set CTID --diskquota no --save"
  • restart the container with the command "vzctl restart CTID" (or via VMmanager OVZ)

Once you are done, migrate to another cluster node. Once migration is complete, you may set quoatas:

  • execute the command "vzctl set CTID --diskquota yes --save"
  • restart the container with the command "vzctl restart CTID" (or via VMmanager OVZ)
