Users management (DNSmanager)

In this module you can add new users, edit existing ones, delete, disable and enable them, and drill down to their level, if necessary.

View a list of users

  • Username - the login that is used to access the control panel.
  • Owner - the reseller who is the owner of this user account. This field is displayed for Administrators only. The information is not displayed if the user was created by the DNSmanager administrator.
  • DNS namespace - the namespace that includes all of the user's domain names.
  • IP address - IP address assigned to the user's name space.
  • Domains - the number of domains that belong to this user.
  • Status - the current status of this user account:
P-onn.png - the user and all his domain names are active;
P-off.png - the user and all his domain names are disabled.

Add user

To add a new user account, click "New" and fill out the form:

  • Username - enter a username that will be used to access the DNSmanager control panel.
  • Password - enter a password that will be used to access the control panel.
  • Confirm password - retype the password to ensure that it has been entered correctly.
  • Private namespace - select the check box to allow this user to use his own namespace for domain creation. Otherwise, the reseller's namespace will be used. This field is only displayed for DNSmanager Resellers.
  • DNS namespace - enter a DNS namespace that includes all of the user's domains (it must be unique within DNSmanager). A reseller can create a separate namespace for its users, or allow them to use its namespace. The namespaces has specific settings to exchange information about domain zones and a separate IP address. If your panel is integrated with IPmanager you must provide at least second-level domain as the namespace. It will be automatically specified as the PTR of the allocated IP address.
  • Domain limit - enter the maximum number of domain names that this user may add.

Edit user properties

To edit a user, select it from the list, click the "Edit" icon and modify the data you want to change.

  • Confirm password - retype the password to ensure that it has been entered correctly.
  • Private namespace - if the check box is not selected, the reseller's namespace will be used. This field is only displayed if the user account belongs to a reseller.
  • DNS namespace - the DNS namespace that includes all of the user's domains. The field is read-only.
  • IP address - the IP address allocated to the user's namespace. The field is read-only.
  • IPv6 address - the IPv6 address allocated to the user's namespace. The field is read-only.
  • Domain limit - enter the maximum number of domain names that this user may add.

Delete user

To delete a user, select it from the list and click the "Delete" icon. Confirm that you want to delete the selected user by clicking OK on the following form.

The domain names created by this user will be deleted as well.

Switch to user panel

If you need to drill down to user level, select the user and click the "Enter" icon.

Once logged in, you may manage the control panel as the selected user.

To return to your login level, click the link located next to the welcome line.
